On February 9th, 2018, Twitter user @wtmmp posted an image that offers four uses for your hands, including patting a moose, slapping a bongo drum and shaking a stick at God, who has received more than 1,000 likes in four years (seen below, on the left). The meme was first mentioned in this post. It was reposted to /r/MemeEconomy that day. On February 28th, a FunnyJunk user posted the first known edit of the image, replacing one of the options with “pat the loli,” garnering over 300 thumbs ups in four years (shown below, right).

Spread

Over the years, the meme gave rise to a lot of variations. On July 5th, 2019, Tumblr user bulbasaur-propaganda posted a version of the meme about the Pokemon Bulbasaur, collecting over 9,000 notes in three years.

A capybara-related meme was posted on Instagram on June 30th, 2021, by capybarafriends, who received over 28,800 likes in one year (see image below, left). A version about coelacanth that Instagram user thesurrealbank posted on August 19 received over 23,000 likes in a year (see below, right).
